I’ve not been to a place where Striped Kingfishers are as common as they are in Mkuze… nor anywhere that they give as good sightings. On this occassion, we were lucky enough to have one sitting next to us in a tree with his dinner on hand. When we arrived the locust was only just alive so the kingfisher still had to knock it against the branch a few more times but after a minute or so, it took to eating it (slowly!)
